Spring Picks

Since spring is just around the corner I have been reading up on recent blog posts for fashion ideas for the season ahead. Spring to me symbolises the start of new beginnings, lighter evenings (and mornings) and new life. Come rain or shine, I love the idea of the crisp sunnier days and with that comes a new wardrobe!

This year, because I am saving like mad for America, I decided to search for cheaper alternatives to add to my wardrobe. Not so much to over fill my drawers once more, but to add to my collection already. Once you get to my age, you see trends and fashions come back around so often that it’s not worth selling clothes away or giving them to charity, but to pack them away for when the trends come back around again (a recent tip I learnt from my Mum). I have been searching online for things that I think will be perfect for my wardrobe this season but that also follow the on season trends for Spring 2018.

Florals – Bringing soft touches to your wardrobe with this soft jersey dress from New Look is perfect for this time of year. Not only does red seem to be the most apt. colour for February, it also looks great paired with a darker toned denim jacket and black boots. The frills on the neckline are something I am obsessing over at the moment on any garment and have also been pronounced as popular for this season. For those colder days you can pair it with tights and for the warmer days…without!

Stripes – This favourite pattern has made a popular come back this year and it goes with just about anything. I already have plenty of blue and white, black and white stripey tops…not to mention jumpers in my wardrobe so I have found this gorgeous stripey jumper dress in slightly different colours from New Look. Again it looks great with darker denim and could be worn on it’s own or tucked into your favourite pair of high waisted skinny jeans.

Lounge – the word ‘chill beat’ seems to be used a lot now amongst us millennial’s and its a term used to describe looking good with make up on, but wearing your best chilled out clothes. I have been forever craving to have a pair of striped Adidas leggings in my wardrobe for these exact days. You know, the type of days where you need to go shopping but you aren’t feeling jeans that day?! These red and white style block ones from Shein are a cheaper alternative and style well with a cropped t-shirt or jumper for those more loungier days.

Black Boots – I feel like black boots are a staple piece in any wardrobe. And if they aren’t in yours already, they NEED to be. I purchased a chunky pair from New Look’s children’s range last year as, fortunately for me, they go up to size 6. The plus side to this is that I also didn’t have to pay tax AND they were in the sale…bargain find right?! This similar pair from Topshop are the perfect find for such a staple piece and trust me when I say, they go with everything!

THE Coat – Back at Christmas time Ash bought me the smartest coat I have ever owned. It was a step up to a newer style for me and a great addition to my winter & spring wardrobe. It looks great over anything and gives it a smarter and more sophisticated look. I have paired it with jeans, Vans and a casual top, but I have also paired it with a classier dress and heels for a night out. I’m not saying you need to get this coat (well I am) but you need a coat that will keep you warm and looking great this spring!

Let me know what your favourite picks are this spring in the comments below! What will you be styling?

  1. Those leggings seem as though they’ll be especially loved in my wardrobe in the next couple of months, i love a good comfy, yet somewhat cute, outfit xoxo

    1. Hi Aimee! Yes don’t they look amazing?! I need to get some on payday!! Xx

  2. Once you’ve amassed a few pics to get started, store them in a Dropbox or iCloud photo folder on your phone for those times when you have zero time or wardrobe inspiration is lacking. And repeat this process often – you’ll find the outfit possibilities of shopping in your own wardrobe suddenly become infinite.
